The Petit Convent, a former stable where iron tools are still secured to the roofs and used to hang and exhibit pieces that would be sold as a whole, has been part of, and witness to, the town of Begur’s\u00a0transformation<\/strong>\u00a0over several centuries. Families who helped to sustain the town’s economy over the years by selling meat and milk products in the area would have lived in the upper floors.<\/span><\/h6>\n
Begur\u2019s origins are closely linked to Cuba<\/strong>. Many emigrants from Begur returned to this coastal town at the end of the 19th century after leaving for the Caribbean island, bringing the wealth they earned in rum and sugar with them.
