AIGUAFREDA

Beach with unique wild nature and an extraordinarily latent seabed.

5 minutes by car from the town of Begur or by taking a magnificent stroll surrounded by nature you'll find the beautiful and welcoming Aiguafreda beach, a destination which nowadays still enjoys the typical charm that local fishermen provide as they fish on one of the wonderful rocks that border the cove..
The building upon which the InterContinental Madrid was built used to be the Palace of the Dukedom of Aliaga, designed by architect Eugenio Jiménez Correa.
The years of splendor of the Spanish nobility came to an end in the 1950s, a period in which the great Spanishfamilies left their luscious palaces they had built on the Paseo de la Castellana.

SA RIERA

Magical, calm and authentic. One of Begur's unmissable beaches.

A real luxury for romantic souls. A spectacular cove protected by the region's most characteristic wild nature. Take a walk along a natural path next to the Hotel Convent de Begur or go by car, to reach a charming place full of magic and inspiration, Sa Riera, which gets its name from the torrent that ended at its shoreline.
Beach

AIGUABLAVA

Authentic beach flanked by beautiful rocks and ideal restaurants.

The Petit Convent recommends you get here via the majestic coastal trail (camino de ronda) which leads you to the right of the cove. It is here, through the sun’s rays, that you are ensured the finest view of the magnificent sapphire colour and seabed of this beautiful coast. As well as its renowned reputation as one of the most spectacular beaches in the Mediterranean, Aiguablava is one of the most prestigious culinary areas on the Costa Brava, the black rice and wild grilled lobster are particularly recommendable. While from here you can also enjoy some spectacular, memorable views.

CAMINOS DE RONDA, COASTAL TRAILS

You will love our recommendation to take a walk along at least some parts of the coastal trails.

The coastal walks along the steep cliffs on the Begur coast is one of the Costa Brava’s unique and unmissable experiences. It is a spectacular journey for anyone, from couples and tourists to hikers, to experience an adventure along the almost 100m high cliffs shaded by enormous 100 year old pine trees.

The caminos de ronda trails are 20km long in total. They are separated in four stretches along the coast which we have summarised below.

Sa Riera stretch - Illa Roja - Platja del Racó - Illa Roja - Sa Riera (1h 30min, 1.6km)
Sa Riera stretch - Punta de la Creu - Sa Riera (1h, 3km)
Aiguafreda stretch - Sa Tuna - Aiguafreda (40min, 2.25km)
Aiguablava stretch - Fornells - Platja Fonda - Fornells - Aiguablava (2h, from 2 to 5km)

We highly recommend that you follow one. At our hotel in Begur, we will provide you with maps and GPS guides to ensure everything runs smoothly.
